It was Saturday morning, November 6, 1948; all was tense excitement at the Jones household in Pittsburgh. God had directed in every detail; the contracts had been signed in faith; the first program had been planned and practised a dozen times, advertisements had been sent to hundreds of friends, and the family of seven (Mother and Day Jones, Bert, Ruth, Edmond, Carol and Ray) had prayed together with the radio engineer, Dick Norwick, who had come from Station WPIT to help them get on the air LIVE by telephone lines...

Suddenly, it was 8:30 AM--the long awaited hour!!! The voice of the announcer could be heard over the earphones... "And now, we invite you to go down the street, around the block to enjoy A VISIT with the JONESES at HOME SWEET HOME..." Bert began playing the theme song, "Home Sweet Home," for the first time and we were ON THE AIR, as Dad's voice went out over the airwaves with his enthusiastic friendliness--HELLO, HELLO THERE!!!

HOW LONG WOULD THE MINISTRY BE AIRED? Well, we thought at least for one more week (for all had gone amazingly well on that "first"), and hopefully the programs would continue for the full THIRTEEN WEEKS of the contract Dad signed--perhaps it may even go a FULL YEAR. BUT, not one of us ever dreamed in our fondest imagination--that GOD would use the ministry for FIFTY FOUR YEARS. But HE HAS, and WE PRAISE GOD for HIS FAITHFULNESS. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Ps. 126:3
